What does “best physical shape” mean to you?
- Being able to walk comfortably?
- Walking 2 miles?
- Jogging a 5 K and running sprints?
- Just being able to get out of bed easily in the morning?
- Looking good in your clothes?
Whatever your definition is, to be able to reach that goal is attainable, if you take the correct path. One of the best treatments for aging and improving your physical shape is NAD+.
- What is it?
- NAD stands for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, a critical coenzyme found in every cell in your body, and it’s involved in hundreds of metabolic processes. NAD+ has two general sets of reactions in the human body: helping turn nutrients into energy as a key player in metabolism and working as a helper molecule for proteins that regulate other cellular functions. The body doesn’t have an endless supply of NAD+. In fact, it actually declines with age.
- What does it do in the body?
- It improves energy levels, mental clarity and mood
- It improves post workout recovery
- It is effective in reducing cravings
- Converts nutrients into energy & maintains healthy DNA
- By improving & sustaining NAD+ levels, you can de-accelerate the aging process
- “NAD+ plays an important protective role in some age-related degenerative disease states. NAD+ can improve mitochondrial function and maintain sufficient levels of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). NAD+ influences DNA repair, and immune and longevity processes. Raising NAD+ levels can balance energy needs with supply and protect against oxidative damage and inflammation. Further clinical trials are necessary to validate NAD+ therapy in ageing and disease.” ( Braidy & Liu, 2020)
- What are the side effects?
- NAD+ has few if any side effects; some people have reported mild to moderate side effects, such as nausea, headaches, stomach discomfort, indigestion, and diarrhea.
- How do you take it?
- Injections are administered subcutaneously into fatty tissue to facilitate NAD+ into the bloodstream
- Where do you get it?
- NAD+ is by prescription only. You can check with your provider to see if they have access to a pharmacy which provides it.
Next week, there will be further discussion on help in improving your health while aging.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Mike
